More Cool Stuff

Check out this etsy shop: Itty Bitties for You

She takes pictures of your dog and turns them into a super hero.  How freaking cool is that? Price is super reasonable, too.

Check out some of these pictures:

I likey!

I just found a site through (of all things!) advertising on Facebook and I really like it.  It's called Mod Cloth.  They feature indie designers and vintage pieces and for what they sell, their prices are reasonable.  I mean, it's not Target....but you can't get indie stuff at Target.

So as I perusing, I looked in their Apartment section and low and behold: Mini Cupcake Alarm Clock!

Hello!  I need it.  It's going on the birthday list since we're on a spending freeze so that we can afford both the down payment for the house we're trying to buy AND the new fridge and washer/dryer that the house doesn't come with.

Look how wee it is:

Anyway: Mod Cloth.  Check it out!  They also have a blog that I'm totally adding to my blog roll now.

It Could be Worse

My husband is constantly frustrated by the yarn and knitting projects that find their way into different parts of our home.  When we got our apartment about a year and a half ago, we got a 2 bedroom apartment so that our very large library (about 1000 books in all....many of them very large reference books) would have somewhere to live.  "My" space was the standard-sized closet in this room.  The rest of the room, however, is for the library.

Well, with the start of my indie dyeing career though the Cupcake Factory, my space needs for yarn and supplies has more than tripled since we moved in.  So my little corner doesn't quite contain everything.  All the time, anyway.  Especially if I'm in the middle of a dying project.  When I'm doing that, I often need to move the yarn out somewhere with good circulation to speed the drying process.  That, and I like to knit on the couch.  So I usually have at least one project hanging out in the living room somewhere.

All that to say... if Joe were to list my top 3 most annoying-to-him habits I have, he would list letting my yarn and/or knitting and/or dying "take over the house" (he's a bit dramatic, this one) as one of the top 2.  Today, however, I saw I post on Joan McGowan Michael's blog that really makes me look like a saint.  "Yarn?" I say, "What yarn?"  Ha!  I've got nothing on The Fleece Artist.

Check out some of these pictures from Joan's Blog:

While I am totally inspired by this (the only thing that could make this image better is having some pet llamas and sheep out front), I realize a house or stand-alone studio like this simply isn't going to happen any time soon.  It also makes this:

(my latest batch of Buttercream yarn for my shop) look like NOTHING.  Nothing at all.

Have you seen the new Knit.1?

I feel like it's been forever since Knit.1's last issue.  So they've finally got a new issue out and they have these socks from Cookie A, which I think are amazing:

They are 90% of the reason why I bought the latest issue.  I love them.  That girl's brain is just wired in a way that spits out the most beautiful knit art.  They're called Marlene and are pattern #3.  Ravelry users can check out the pattern page here.

Which, by the way, if you love Cookie as much as I do....did you know she's coming out with a book?  Yes!  Check it out:
You can even pre-order it on Amazon right now for the screaming deal of $15.61.  You know I'm getting me a copy (well, technically I'm hoping someone will give me a copy for my birthday.  However, if that doesn't happen, I will be buying one.  Either way...I'm getting one.)  You can see a preview of the insides here.  What did I tell you?  $15.61 for this is a SCREAMING deal.

Cupcakes for Christmas

I realize this post is a little on the belated side, but somehow I thought I blogged it already (I realize now I only talked about it in a Ravelry forum I moderate for cupcake lovers: Knit Cakes.  There we go again....Ravelry getting in the way of my blog).

But look!  Cupcakes!  For Christmas!

 Cupcake ornament

Cupcake "Sugar Shaker" (though it's currently holding baking soda next to my sink)

Cupcake jammies (with optional jealous puppy getting in the way of taking pictures of jammies)

Cupcake plates...shaped like cupcakes!

And I also got a lifetime supply of cupcake papers (I just realized I don't have a picture of this, though).

I always think it's cool when I get amazing stuff like this from people when I didn't ask for it or even know it existed befor they gave it to me.  :-)

OH!  And my gift givers have now recieved international acclaim because the top cupcake blog, Cupcakes Take the Cake, saw my stuff in flickr and blogged about it, too.  How cool is that?
