Glass Pedestal Candle or Flower Holder Tutorial

So I said yesterday that I would come back and teach you how I made my awesome candle/flower/whatever pedestal holders for just a few dollars.

It cost me $6 total to make this set of three glass pedestal stands.

You will need:
  • 3 glass votive holder bowls - $1 each at Dollar Tree
  • 3 glass candle sticks - $1 each at Dollar Tree
  • E-6000 glass glue - on hand.  If you don't have any yet, make sure you pay less by using a Michael's or Jo-Ann's coupon and get it for 40-50% off.
Step 1: Prep the glass
Wash the glass and remove any labels. Dry throughly and use rubbing alcohol to wipe down the bottoms of the glass bowls and both the top and bottom of the candle sticks to remove any traces of oil or cleaning solution. Set one bowl aside - it's not getting any feet.

Step 2: Glue
Put a thin line of the E-6000 around the top rim of each candle holder.

Step 3: Stack the Pieces
For the shorter stand (left), center one of the bowls on top of the candle stick and press down.

For the taller stand (in progress on the right), invert one candle stand upside down onto the other and press. Wipe off any extra glue that seeps out of the edges with an alcohol soaked cotton pad. Allow to set for about an hour and then add a line of glue around the top of the pedestal and attach the second glass bowl.

Allow to set for 24 hours before using them in order to allow the glue to cure properly

This is what they will look like finished:

Use a third matching glass flat on the table to have a set of tiered holders you can use for all kinds of things throughout the year. A similar set of candle/floral stands at IKEA costs $10 each (so $30 for a set of three) but you can have your own set for only $6. Don't you feel clever?
